Terms & Conditions
The agreement,
in plain language.
No dense legalese and no surprises. Here's what LIFEKEY does, what it deliberately doesn't do, and where your responsibility begins and ours ends.

LIFEKEY exists for one moment: when you can't speak for yourself and someone needs to know what would help. These terms cover how the service works and the boundaries around it. If anything here is unclear, ask us — we'd rather explain it than have you guess.
01
Agreeing to these terms
By creating, editing, sharing, or reading a LIFEKEY profile you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.
LIFEKEY has no accounts, so there is no sign-up screen where you tick a box. Using the service is the agreement.
02
What LIFEKEY is — and is not
LIFEKEY turns information you type in into a read-only web page that a first responder, nurse, or bystander can open in seconds. That's the whole service.
- It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care.
- It is not a medical record system, and it is not certified for clinical use or regulated as a medical device.
- It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
- It does not guarantee that anyone will find, open, or act on your profile.
03
Your two links
Every profile comes with two links. The short public link opens the read-only page and is meant to be shared. The long private link is the only way to edit that profile.
Anyone holding the private link can change or delete the contents of your profile. Treat it like a password: store it in a password manager, and never post it publicly or print it on anything you carry.
Because there are no accounts, we cannot verify who you are and cannot email a lost private link back to you. If you lose it, create a new profile and share the new public link.
04
Your responsibility for the content
You are responsible for what goes into a profile and for keeping it current. Out-of-date allergy or medication information can be more dangerous than none at all, so review your profile whenever your care changes.
Only add information about someone else — a child, a parent, a person in your care — if you have the authority to do so and they, or their legal representative, are comfortable with it being readable by anyone holding the link.
05
Acceptable use
Use LIFEKEY for genuine emergency information. Don't use it to store or distribute anything else.
- Don't impersonate another person or create profiles for people who haven't consented.
- Don't upload unlawful, abusive, or deliberately misleading content.
- Don't attempt to guess, enumerate, scrape, or brute-force profile links.
- Don't try to disrupt the service or work around its technical limits.
06
Availability
We work to keep LIFEKEY online and fast, but we provide it as-is and without any uptime guarantee. Maintenance, outages, network problems, and a dead phone battery are all real possibilities.
For that reason, a LIFEKEY should complement rather than replace other emergency measures — a bracelet engraving, a card in your wallet, a contact saved in a phone.
07
Removing a profile
You can clear a profile at any time from your private edit link by emptying the fields you no longer want visible.
If you need a profile removed entirely, write to us from the address you can be reached at and include the public link. We may not be able to confirm ownership, so removal requests are handled case by case.
08
Limits of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, LIFEKEY is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any decision made — or not made — on the basis of a profile's contents.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
09
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and continuing to use LIFEKEY after a change means you accept the updated terms.
